This past Saturday, September 28, the Islamic Association of Greater Hartford hosted an impactful and inspiring event titled “Islam Between Faith and Action”. The community gathered to explore the vital role that faith plays in guiding Muslims toward advocacy and social justice. With the insightful guidance of guest speaker Brother Mosaab Sadeia, attendees were able to dive deep into the intersection of faith and activism within Islam. The event opened with a powerful discussion on how the teachings of Islam call on believers not only to focus on personal piety but also to take action in the face of injustice. Br. Sadeia led an engaging session on the Qur'an and Hadith, illustrating how these texts provide a framework for standing against oppression and working toward justice in today's world. Participants reflected on the importance of being Muslim advocates in local and global movements, and how Islam encourages active participation in promoting fairness, equality, and freedom for all people. The highlight of the evening came when Palestinian organizers spoke about the spiritual significance of the struggle for Palestine, reminding the audience that Palestine's liberation is a responsibility of the global ummah. Their stories deeply resonated with attendees and reaffirmed the interconnectedness of all struggles for justice. Through thoughtful presentations and interactive discussions, the event emphasized the inseparable link between faith and action in Islam. Attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose, understanding that as Muslims, we are called to uphold justice, protect the oppressed, and bring the teachings of Islam to life through our actions.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made this evening such a meaningful experience. This is just the beginning of a larger conversation on faith, justice, and advocacy, and we look forward to continuing these vital discussions in the future. Together, we can be the change. ✊🏽 Stay engaged, stay inspired, and keep moving toward collective liberation.
